Ravenstone Birds of Prey was established by Samantha Murphy in 2007 as a natural outlet for her love of raptors and owls. She has been a Falconer since 1999 and in that time has gained an extensive knowledge of many species of birds of prey.
In addition to her own birds, Sam is also a highly respected trainer and often takes in juvenile birds from breeders for training as well as rescuing injured and vulnerable wild birds for rehabilitation and, whenever possible, release back into the wild.
There are three main areas in which the business operates:
Trabolgan Birds of Prey Educational Centre
An educational visitor centre based in Trabolgan Holiday Village from March to October where visitors can view birds of prey up close and take the opportunity to pose for photographs holding them. There is extensive information available in the centre on all aspects of falconry and there are always falconers on hand to answer any questions. It is also possible to book Hawk Flying Experiences. Group bookings are welcome. For children under 3 years of age entry is free.
You can visit the centre’s dedicated website here.
Roadshows
To educate people about birds of prey is something that is close to Sam’s heart. She regularly takes a selection of birds to displays and talks at schools, universities, clubs, groups, hotels, parties and to individuals. People are given the chance to handle the birds and learn about the different species. This is a year round service, please contact us for costs and availability.
Ravenstone Bird Control
Our falconry response programmes create a natural visual deterrent, letting pest birds know that the area is no longer safe. Our trained birds are a very effective deterrent and can be used for clearing large sites of nuisance bird populations. We can operate in urban areas where proofing methods are unsuitable – shopping centres, flats and city centres; and prevent nuisance bird populations from roosting or nesting on farmland, landfill, brownfield or greenfield sites before development begins to avoid costly delays.
